After missing three weeks with a knee injury, Duke Blue Devils star Zion Williamson was back in action on Thursday night for the first game of the ACC tournament against the Syracuse Orange. The Blue Devils came away victorious, winning the game by a score of 84-72. Williamson had a game-high 29 points and 14 rebounds. Perhaps the most impressive stat is that Zion went a perfect 13 of 13 from the field. The Duke star was interviewed after the game about how some people thought he should have sat out the rest of the season. For Zion, that was never an option.
"Everybody has their right to an opinion, but I knew I was coming back the whole time," Williamson said according to ESPN.
Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim spoke about Zion's performance after the game and compared him to some of the game's best players.
"I've been in this game over 50 years, and I've seen some great players," Boeheim said. "I'm not saying he's better than those guys, but he can do things nobody has done in this game. He's crazy. He's a different type of player. There's not guys like him."
Duke will now play North Carolina in the ACC Tournament Semi-Final tonight at 9 P.M. EST.
