"I Got 5 On It" will never be the same.

Those in the know understand that horror movie soundtracks are the move. Colin Stetson's Hereditary. Thom Yorke's Suspiria. Disasterpiece's It Follows. The list goes on. Haunting, unsettling, and occasionally beautiful, the expression of terror through music has yielded countless interpretations across the years. Now, with Jordan Peele's Us set to arrive on March 22nd, a long-anticipated piece of music from the film has arrived.

You might recall the twisted take on Luniz' "I Got 5 On It," that blended masterfully with the film's initial launch trailer. Now, the official "Tethered Mix" has arrived, via the Michael Abels-scored soundtrack. It might not be for everyone, but for those interested in the film-soundtrack game, Us should be well worth a listen. Check out the link now, as originally posted by Complex via Back Lot Music.

The remix itself is notably chilling, stripping down the instrumental while retaining the signature riff; in this context, it's given a devastating feel evocative of hopelessness, driven to a climax by electric guitars and maddening pizzicato strings. Who would have thunk a song about communal smoking sessions would be so eerie? The mind of Jordan Peele is a strange and wonderful place.
