Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel was found guilty of murder following a 65 day trial last month, and today he was given his sentencing. The Jamaican sensation, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was hit with a life sentence, and will not be eligible for parole until he has served 35 years in prison.
Three other men were also convicted in the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams, all of which were given life sentences. Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell and Kahira Jones will have to serve 25 years before their parole eligibility, while Andre St John will be required to serve 30.
The defense plans to appeal the verdict, citing issues such as "discrepancies, inconsistencies, missing data, and mismanagement in the collection of evidence as well as the integrity of the evidence."
