In the wake of dismissing plans of a greater cinematic universe, DC's films have been given a little bit more breathing room. At least, creatively speaking. Take Shazam!, the upcoming film starring Zachary Levy in the titular role. The premise alone is enough to raise interest, following a sixteen-year-old boy who becomes a superpowerful man upon the utterance of "SHAZAM!" Naturally, such a transformation is enough to cause a ruckus, especially during the initial change. Now, a recent sneak peek provides a closer look at the awkwardness that ensues.
The clip finds Shazam, fresh upon his transformation, desperately seeking the assistance of his super-hero aficionado homie Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer). Freddie is initially cautious upon witnessing a strange man pleading for his aid, as well he should be. Luckily, the ever-resourceful Shazam is able to prove his identity, which doesn't prove as difficult as one might expect. The power of a willing imagination, I suppose. In any case, the film's comedic tone appears in full swing as Shazam experiments with the full extent of his powers...to shocking results.
Check out the sneak peek now, and keep an eye out for Shazam!, which arrives in theatres on April 5th, 2019.
