The 2019 Oscar Nominations are in.

The nominations for the 2019 Academy Awards have been unveiled, marking yet another possible milestone for hip-hop in the process. That's not to say that a rapper needs an Oscar for validation, though it always remains exciting to widen the scope of potential EGOT candidates. In any case, Kendrick Lamar and SZA mark the latest artists to secure themselves a nomination, thanks to their Black Panther collaboration "All The Stars."

Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Green Book, A Star Is Born, Roma, and The Favourite are but a few of the latest Oscar darlings. While it's not yet clear who might ultimately end up being the frontrunner, a few notable milestones have transpired in the process. The inclusion of Black Panther marks the first Best Picture nomination for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and shoud Alfonso Cuaron secure the Best Director victory, it will continue a trend of Mexican Dominance in the field.
