It's a free country, but those who have voiced any kind of support for R. Kelly aren't protected from the backlash that comes with it. Kelly's entire legacy is being torn down, slowly, since the premiere of the Lifetime docu-series Surviving R. Kelly. The authorities are attempting to build a case against him for sexual misconduct in Chicago and Atlanta, and he been canceled from the culture. It was reported that R&B goddess Erykah Badu placed her support behind R. Kelly during a show. Attendees at her show in Chicago say that Badu asked whether a victim of Kelly turned abuser should receive the same amount of scrutiny. She also sent a prayer up for Kelly, saying, "I’m putting up a prayer right now for R. I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all the things that we’ve seen on TV that these ladies are talking about.”

After being hounded by critics and the media, Badu took to Twitter to clarify her comments. "I love you. Unconditionally," she began. "That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt. Is that strange to you ?"
