Last year, Shay Johnson shocked her fans when she posted a video of herself in a hospital bed, seemingly getting ready for surgery. The reality star explained that she was rushed to the hospital for a blood transfusion, asking her fans to pray for her as she battles health issues. On a new episode of Love & Hip-Hop: Miami, Shay opened up about what she's been dealing with for months for the first time on television, telling the world about her fibroid tumours and confiding in her friend Pooch.
Shay visited Pooch on the show, telling her about all the medical complications she has had to endure. Shay told cameras how she has been dealing with romantic break-ups, friendships ending, and medical scares. She got candid about her visits to the hospital. "I do have a medical condition called fibroids and fibroids is a benign tumour that grows on your uterus," she revealed. "I have two and one is very, very large. The last time we measured it, it was the size of a grapefruit. I have heavy menstrual cycles for longer than fifteen days. On top of that, I've been fainting because I'm losing so much blood. My doctor said I'll start haemorrhaging, for which I would then have to have blood transfusions. So to avoid that, they're trying to rush and get it out."
Shay told her friend that she's never had surgery, which is the reason why she's terrified. Pooch told her that she's also had fibroids that required surgery, offering to come with her to the doctor so that she doesn't feel alone.
We're hoping that Shay has a speedy recovery.
