This feature highlights a hand-picked selection of some of the bigger tracks of the week. We have chosen a few of the tracks that landed within our top 25 most played, focusing on those that stood out, and left room for discussion. This edition features Jhene Aiko, Jeezy, The Weekend, and more! Take a look at the list in the gallery above, and feel free to let us know your own favorite tracks in the comments.
Jhene Aiko- Stay Ready (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Aiko's "Stay Ready" starts off just a little too dreamy to really leave a lasting impression, but locks into an interesting groove in it's final third that makes it all worthwhile. K.Dot also sounds more like Andre 3000 than he ever has, but that might just be because Dre tends to show up on pop and R&B-leaning tracks these days.
Mike Will Made It- Whippin A Brick (Feat. Wiz Khalifa & Migos)
Migos bring their signature triplet flows to a simple but effective Mike WiLL beat, which feels like something he may have produced a year or so back. Wiz pulls a Drake and sporadically adopts the trio's flow for his guest appearance, which he pulls off quite well.
Jeezy- Benihana (Feat. Rocko & 2 Chainz)
The synthesized brass on "Benihana" almost feels like a call back to the ringtone-y trap of Jeezy's TM:101 single, "My Hood" or Tip's "Rubber Band Man". Like those tracks, Jeezy's latest is more fun than menacing, it's cartoonish quality coming to its climax when 2 Chainz shows up to rap like he's a character from a Dave Chappelle skit.
The Weeknd- The Devil May Cry
A slow-building ballad that holds the same cinematic quality as much of Kiss Land did, with the paranoid atmosphere of the album replaced with an almost triumphant quality.
Unfortunately, we get a Timbo verse where a Jay verse should have been on the first single from Shock Value 3. While always a bit awkward on the mic, Tim has not lost his production skills, providing a strong backdrop for a strong features from drake and James Fauntleroy, the latter playing the Justin Timberlake role in the now signature last quarter switch up that has now become a Timbo staple.
