The look inspired joyful responses.

Moroccan-American rapper French Montana hit the Met Gala 2019 red carpet with a unique fit meant to mark and celebrate the first night of Ramadan. The 34-year old artist graced the carpet in his outfit designed by Dapper Dan, precisely stemming from the legendary fashion designer's Gucci collection. While the musician did look dapper, social media took no breaks with him.

Every year the Met Gala follows a precise team which relates to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's 2019 Costume Institute Exhibition. The theme of the year was based on Susan Sontag's 1964 Essay titled Notes on Camp, wherein the author analyzed varying meanings and definitions of the term. As such, celebrities of all sorts came through with fits which represented the writer's take on camp, which she defines as "the love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration." Yet, social media did not think French Montana was on theme.

A series of memes hit the web following French's appearance which tied him to Ramadan and leading prayer. The hilarious memes shed light on elements of the religion and culture, while also keeping things respectable. The month of Ramadan began this past Sunday on May 5th.
