Taylor Swift is undoubtedly the biggest pop star in the world but it seems as if her dedicated fan base might be losing their enthusiasm. The Swifties may have been too busy trying to plot revenge on Desus & Mero that they forgot to stream Taylor's new single "ME!" Her new single arrived in late April and debuted at #100 on the Billboard Hot 100 based off of three days of streaming activity. Unfortunately, even after a full week of streams, her latest single couldn't nab the top spot on the chart.
Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Old Town Road" maintains its position at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week in a row while Taylor Swift's leaps to number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite Swift taking a backseat to "Old Town Road," "ME!" ft. Panic! At The Disco's Brenden Urie still had a successful week. It racked up 193,000 downloads in its first full-tracking week, marking her best week for a single since the release of "Look What You Made Me Do." The song also marked the biggest leap for a Billboard Hot 100 entry ever. She did, however, beat out Lil Nas X for the top spot on the Digital Song Sales charts.
Despite the success of Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," that wasn't the only song that prevented Swift from nabbing the top spot in other countries. Last week, it was announced that Stormzy's new single, "Vossi Bop" prevented Taylor Swift's "Me!" from hitting the number one spot on the U.K. charts.
As for Lil Nas X, his breakout single recently broke another new record as the first track in history to snag 100M US streams in four separate weeks.
