Will Drake land the number one album on the BIllboard 200 off a 10-year old project?

Last week, Drake announced that he was releasing his breakout mixtape So Far Gone onto streaming platforms. The rapper's announced it a few days before the project's 10-year anniversary. Fans were undoubtedly excited by the fact that they could actually listen to the project top to bottom on streaming platforms. With Drake constantly topping the charts and crushing Billboard records, fans joked over the weekend that his decade-old project would end up topping the charts. However, that might not end up being the case.

The first-week sales projections for So Far Gone has been revealed. Hits Daily Double reports that the project is on its way to moving 40K to 50K in its first week with 5 to 8k of those units coming from traditional sales. Country group Florida Georgia Line's new project Can't Say I Ain't Country is expected to move 45k to 50k in its first week.

It looks like Drake is on pace to reach the top 10 but the number one spot might be a stretch. Ariana Grande's latest project, Thank U, Next, which debuted atop the Billboard 200, just moved 360K units in its first week so it seems likely that she'll maintain that position unless there's a significant dip in streams in sales in her second week.

The release of Drake's So Far Gone includes all original 18 tracks that appeared on the free mixtape.
