The Los Angeles Lakers haven't officially named Tyronn Lue as their next head coach, but all signs are pointing in that directions - including Lue's birthday cake.
According to TMZ Sports, Lue was surprised with a Lakers-themed birthday cake at an upscale Las Vegas restaurant over the weekend in celebration of his 42 birthday.
Per TMZ:
We're told Lue rented out the entire restaurant and celebrated with his closest friends and family -- less than 10 people at the party.
But the biggest moment of the night was the cake -- which sported a giant Lakers logo and a basketball hoop ... along with the message, "Happy Birthday Coach."
Ty laughed when the cake was brought out -- but we're told he never really said anything to dispute the insinuation he's gonna be the next coach of the Lakers.
Ever since the Lakers fired Luke Walton, Lue has been described as the "frontrunner" for the vacant position and the feeling only got stronger once Sixers assistant Monty Williams agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns.
Last Thursday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers are expected to name Ty Lue as their next head coach, but he still has not been presented with an official offer. If the birthday cake presented to Lue by his family and friends is any indication, the decision may have already been made and it's only a matter of time before it's officially announced.
