Kendrick Lamar weighs in on J. Cole's "Control" response, as well as his seven Grammy nominations.

There were certainly a lot of "Control" responses within the weeks of Kendrick Lamar's infamous verse, but not one from the actual rappers mentioned. Better late than never, J. Cole offered a unique response (or moreso a reaction) to the call-out this month, with a guest verse on Justin Timberlake's "TKO (Remix)".

In a recent interview with Power 106, Kendrick commented on Cole's 16, which he was very impressed and amused by (though likely in a different way than he was of Papoose's "comical" take).

“I definitely texted him,” Kendrick said of his initial response, laughing. “He was in character, and he just did what he did best, he played off words, man.”

The TDE rapper then spoke of his seven Grammy nominations, for which he was greatly honored.

“It feels great. I got some of the best fans, the best family, the best radio stations supporting me, and that’s who I owe it to at the end of the year,” he said. “[good kid, m.A.A.d city] is a really raw album, there’s not too much crossover. So for them to even put it in that light, that’s a win by itself. So if I take it home that’s even more of a crazy feeling.”
