Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict suffered another concussion during the team's 26-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday, putting his career in jeopardy, according to Bengals reporter Kat Terrell.
Burfict's latest concussion is his second this month and seventh of his career. Although, as Terrell notes, those are only the seven that have been reported.
The 28-year old linebacker is in his seventh NFL season but hasn't played a full slate of gimes since 2013, when he led the league with 177 tackles. He has not appeared in more than 11 games in any of the past five seasons, including this year in which he played in just seven games while recording 16 solo tackles.
Burfict has missed a number of games due to injuries over this career, and has also missed time due to suspensions for his on-field play and failed drug tests. According to Spotrac, he has missed 10 games and been fined more than $4.2 million during his NFL tenure.
The Bengals, sitting in last place in the AFC North with a 6-9 record, will finish the season on the road in Pittsburgh.
