Many were introduced to Drake as a Young Money signee, but his presence has grown exponentially since getting picked up by the label. In fact, the OVO rapper has come to a point where he's doing the biggest numbers of any Cash Money artist, and his new superstardom, as well as the absence of Cash Money features on his latest project, have brought about rumors of a rift between Drizzy and his label.
In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Birdman, otherwise known as Cash Money's co-founder cleared the air on the rumors, explaining that Drake's loyalty has not dwindled in the slightest.
"Drake was a fan before a friend [with Cash Money] and maybe we put the most on the table but that was my thing," said Baby. "I thought he was a very talented young man so we saw a future with him and we wanted him to be comfortable, but at the end of the day Drake made the decision of where he wanted to be."
The Cash Money boss stressed that the rumors are not to be taken seriously. "Drake is my little brother, I love him man and don't believe everything you hear," he said. "Drake down with the team for life. I got nothing but love for Drake and the whole OVO camp, that's family forever."
According to Birdman, Drake's accesnion into his own lane was always encouraged. "We support their emergence and [Drake has] the Nike, Toronto Raptors deals, it's about you developing and becoming bigger and if you have someone not allowing you to be bigger that's a problem; and we don't operate like that," he said.
