Earlier this year, we published an article asking if Funk Flex was a hater. The iconic radio host and DJ was criticized at the beginning of 2018 for listing off a group of "wack" rappers, including names like Nicki Minaj, Lil Pump, and more. He has always been one of the main sources for new music and entertainment in the hip-hop realm but his opinions have been scathing at times. Yesterday, Flex commented on the hot topic surrounding "rules" in a rap battle, seemingly calling out Drake for assuming he could determine how artists behave in a feud. While he didn't name names on his show with Styles P and Dave East, he was a little more clear during the aftermath on Twitter.
The Funkmaster had a message for "Drake stans," throwing shade at their idol for his statements on The Shop. His remark resonated as he said, "Your favorite artist has reference tracks, lost the battle to Pusha and is an 'ACTOR' turned 'RAPPER' telling us what the rules on battle rap should be?" People will be quick to write off Funk Flex's comments as an oldhead simply hating but his words have depth. By not responding to Pusha T, many believe that an L was handed to Drizzy. Despite his success against Meek Mill years ago, is it appropriate for him to speak on "rules" in battle rap?
