Tenured radio personality Charlamagne Tha God sat down with political commentator and television show host Trevor Noah for an enriching conversation surrounding an array of topics. In the new special series launched by the Hollywood Reporter, the pair motioned the lens of focus on the current representation of Blackness in Hollywood as seen in the overwhelming success of Black-centered films such as the Marvel box office-hit Black Panther and the Academy Award winner for Best Original Screenplay, Get Out. The newly helmed series, known as Emerging Hollywood, is to be hosted by Charlamagne and serves as a conversation series dedicated to honing on important issues.
In this first installment, Trevor Noah shares his experience as a South African man observing America through an external lens. Noah also chimes in on the American idea of an "immigrant" and its attachment to the black and brown. The two then go onto discussing the history of racial oppression in America and how its dismissal has perpetrated the racist rhetoric grooming at the nation's underbelly ever since. The series can be followed via the Hollywood Reporter's youtube channel and may be the perfect outlet for the daring souls who enjoy a good conversation from which they can acquire insightful perspectives.
