Meek Mill kept details surrounding CHAMPIONSHIPS relatively quiet until a week or two before the project's release. However, he was continuously sharing pictures of himself in the studio with other artists, teasing potential collaborations on the project. J. Cole was one of the people seen in the studio with Meek which prompted speculation that we'd hear the two on wax together. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case but Meek did say that he and Cole will be getting in the studio soon.
With a few hours on the road, Meek Mill decided to field questions from his fans on Twitter for the latest edition of #AskMeek. One fan was eager to find out when his collaboration with Cole would drop. "Very soon I can’t wait to go bar for bar wit cole he be on some shit!" He replied.
Following the release of CHAMPIONSHIPS, he suggested the collab didn't happen because of conflicting schedules but he did assure fans that it was coming soon.
While fans are hoping they'll be working together in the future, maybe we might see a collaboration sooner rather than later. The two rappers are expected to headline the NBA All-Star game performance this weekend in Charlotte, NC. Following his performance at the NBA All-Star game, the Philly rapper is expected to launch his upcoming "The Motivation" tour alongside Lil Durk and Kash Doll which kicks off in Miami on Feb. 19th.
