The New Orleans Pelicans and General Manager Dell Demps are parting ways.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Pelicans ownership was "livid" with an injured Anthony Davis leaving the arena during Thursday night’s 131-122 victory against the OklahomaCity Thunder. Team owner Gayle Benson reportedly wants an "overhaul" of the Pelicans, which includes hiring a new GM to take control of the Anthony Davis trade negotiations.

Davis left last night's game in the final moments of the first half, after suffering what the team described as a muscle contusion on his left shoulder. Davis did not return to the bench after halftime and, according to ESPN, he left the Smoothie King Center with agent Rich Paul during the game to get an MRI.

Head coach Alvin Gentry was asked after the game about Davis leaving the arena during the game, but sidestepped the question, telling reporters he was "happy for the guys that played the game and we won."

Gentry, who told the media that he is done talking about the Davis trade rumors, described the whole situation as a "dumpster fire."

"I'm happy for all of them," Gentry said following the Pelicans win on Thursday.

"Because to tell you the truth, this whole thing has been a dumpster fire. ... We want guys to be professional and we want them to do this, but it's hard for guys to go through what they've been through. And to be able to come out and beat a team of that quality, I'm happy for all the guys. I just thought they did a great job."
