Lions trade Tate to Philly.

The defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles have acquired veteran wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions, in exchange for a third round pick.

The former Super Bowl champ didn't think he'd be among the players dealt at the deadline. "I don't think they're going to trade me," Tate said on Monday, according to NFL.com. "If they do, I'll be surprised, but it's a business so I guess we got a few hours. A few hours and we'll see."

Immediately after the trade to Philly was announced, Tate took to twitter with a Rocky gif and a message for both his former and current cities: "It’s been real DETROIT! I’ll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!!"

Tate, 30, has caught 44 passes for 517 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. According to ESPN, he has had 90 receptions in each of his four seasons with the Lions and was a 1,000-yard receiver in three of those years.

Coming off a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday, the Eagles, 4-4, are sitting in second place in the NFC East behind the Washington Redskins. Philadelphia will host the division rival Dallas Cowboys in a primetime game on Sunday, November 11 when they return from the bye week.
