Walker is grateful for his NBA opportunity.

This year's NBA All-Star game will be pretty special for fans of the Charlotte Hornets. The game is taking place in Charlotte and the team's star player, Kemba Walker, will be a starter for the first time. This will be his third all-star game in a row but the fact that he's now a starter is a huge accomplishment for a player who is in his eighth season in the league. He has improved immensely over the years and in an interview with Sports Illustrated he talked about what it all means to him.

“Sometimes I can’t believe it,” Walker explained. “There’s times where I’m on the bench thinking about that kind of stuff, like I can’t even believe I’m here, man. It’s pretty surreal, honestly.”

As far as the game is concerned, Walker is just excited to be able to put on a good show for the fans.

“It means a great deal to me,” Walker said. “It’s special, just because it’s here. It’s in Charlotte, in front of the people that watch me every single day, every single night over my career. It’s exciting. I can’t wait, man. I’m super excited. It’s going to be a special year.”

The Hornets are currently ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with a record of 27-30.
