New York Giants backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta was reportedly arrested in Weehawken, New Jersey Tuesday morning while driving to the team's practice facility in East Rutherford.

According to NJ.com:

"Sources in Weehawken with knowledge of the incident said the 23-year-old was trying to make a right turn from the wrong lane to get to Route 495 East, and was directed to keep going straight. Lauletta made the right turn and nearly ran over the officer directing traffic. He was stopped by another officer at the end of the on-ramp."

Head coach Pat Shurmer told reporters at practice (H/T Daily News), “We were made aware of the situation this morning, and we have been in contact with Kyle. We are still in the process of gathering information. This is obviously very disappointing.”

The G-Men are 1-7 this season and Eli Manning has been absolutely brutal, which had some fans hoping Lauletta would get a chance to start after their bye week. Lauletta, a fourth-round draft pick out of Richmond University, has not appeared in a game this season and was declared inactive for the Giants' 20-13 loss to the Redskins on Sunday.

The Giants don't play again until Monday, November 12 when they'll take on the lowly San Francisco 49ers.
