WWE legend The Honky Tonk Man is Hall Of Fame bound, and it'll be "The Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart who introduces him at the 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday, April 6 at Barclays Center.
The Honky Tonk Man made his WWE debut in 1986 and later joined forces with fellow Hart, who helped HTM cement himself as one of the company's greatest heels.
Per WWE:
"The new attitude was apparently just what the crooner needed, as he racked up victory after victory on his way to becoming Intercontinental Champion in June 1987 with a shocking victory over Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat. Following his big win, The Honky Tonk Man went on to claim that he was the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. At first, that boast may have rang a little hollow, but his claims began to hold a little more water as his reign continued."
The Honky Tonk Man, the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history, held onto the IC title for nearly 13 months before he was dethroned by the Ultimate Warrior at the 1988 edition of SummerSlam. His record-breaking 454 day streak as Intercontinental Champion still stands.
The 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will air on the WWE Network starting at 7pm ET this Saturday, April 6. Check out some predictions for Wrestlemania 35 here.
