Guy Stevens wants to immortalize Eazy-E in his hometown of Newhaven.

A man from Newhaven, U.K. made a case to have a statue of the Godfather of Gangsta rap erected in the town, U.K.'s The Argus reports. Guy Stevens made a plea to the Newhaven Town Council to consider honoring Eazy-E in his hometown.

“Just do it. Get a statue or a plaque up. Why not?" He urged the town council. “You just wasted money on a bandstand on Denton island no one cares about so why not an Eazy-E memorial?”

He explained that adding some sort of tribute to the late rapper, who died in 1995 from AIDS, would add interest to the town. "I think it would be unique, it would stand out, and would be eccentric," he said. “It would add to the town and bring some interest." Adding, "Also he died of Aids so on a more personal level it may raise awareness of things like sexual health."

Stevens, who's admittedly a huge fan of 90s hip-hop, said that Eazy-E specifically needs to be honored in Newhaven. His case basically built on the fact that he enjoys 90s rap and Newhaven doesn't have much else going on for it, apparently.

"He needs to be remembered in some way in our town. We have nothing going for us and no notable landmarks other than a fort. And Eazy-E is a legend," he said.

Stevens said that he created a poll online to gauge the public's opinion on the statue of Eazy-E. He claimed the results came back 60/40 in favor of the statue.

However, the deputy mayor of the town, Graham Amy, as well as the council, have admitted they have no idea who Eazy-E. “I’ve lived all of my life in Newhaven and I’ve never heard of him, not a clue," Amy, 72, said.
