Heading into the 2019 NBA Entry Draft, most people already have Duke Blue Devils star Zion Williamson going first overall. Considering just how big and athletic he is, it's no surprise that scouts and teams think so highly of him. So much so that theories are already circling over which teams are purposely tanking in order to have the best shot at getting Williamson. One of those analysts who think the world of Zion is none other than ESPN's Jay Williams who believe Zion will not only make his money through the NBA but also through a multi-million dollar sneaker deal. In fact, Williams told TMZ Sports that said deal could be in the range of $100 million.
"He has that marketability. That smile. And, who else is 6'7", 285 with a 43-inch vertical that can entertain you like that? Nobody," Wiliams said.
Now $100 million definitely sounds like a lot but it isn't unprecedented. It is rumored that LeBron James has a $1 billion sneaker deal with Nike which just goes to show how much some of these companies are willing to spend on their signature athletes.
Regardless, we'll just have to wait and see where Zion ends up. If he gets drafted by a team like the New York Knicks, his earning potential with any brand will surely rise.
