Freddie Gibbs and Madlib seemed like an unusual pairing but Pinata showcased their undeniable chemistry. The project was released to critical acclaim and is arguably one of the best rap albums of this decade. The two rappers have been teasing the sequel for a minute and Gibbs previously admitted that he had been sitting on the project. Over the past few months, more details surrounding the project have emerged with Gangsta Gibbs even confirming it would drop this year. Thankfully, it looks like Gibbs and Madlibs will be pulling through with their joint effort Bandana this year.
A few weeks ago, Madlib revealed that he was clearing samples for Bandana and now, they two have confirmed the project's completion. Gibbs shared a clip of himself walking around with Madlib teasing the project. "Might put some shit out. Might. Thinking about it. We thinking about it," he said. In another clip posted to Gibbs' Instagram Story, he said, "Album is done. Finished. Finito,” while drinking wine with Madlib. It's unsure when they plan on releasing the project but it seems like it'll arrive soon. Hopefully, this spring.
Gibbs had a pretty busy year in 2018. The Gary native released his project, Freddie in June and followed it up in October with the release of his collaborative effort with Curren$y and Alchemist, Fetti.
