James passed is now fourth all-time in career points.

Despite playing for a struggling Los Angeles Lakers team, LeBron James finally had reason to celebrate last night as he surpassed Michael Jordan for fourth all-time on the NBA points list. James was just 12 points back of Jordan heading into the night and ended up scoring 31, which was way more than he really needed. Today, James took to Instagram to reflect on his accomplishment and paid homage to his idol, MJ, in the process.

"THANK YOU M.J!! Still tripping about last night. Couldn’t have in a trillion years thought that would be possible especially knowing where I come from and what I watch him do every single night! Doesn’t make sense to meto be honest.Man it’s CRAZY!! LeBron wrote. "I know you guys think I’m tripping but if you knew me and my friends growing up you’d understand. Beyond blessed and appreciative of all the congrats from family, friends, colleagues, strangers, haters(😉), etc etc!! For the ones who been on the journey from Day 1 and I mean Day 1 I thank you even more!! Love."

After last night's game, Jordan issued a statement saying: “I want to congratulate LeBron on achieving another great milestone during his amazing career.”

There are now only three men standing in LeBron's way until he achieves the most points in NBA history. Kobe Bryant is third all-time, while Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are second and first respectively.
