Will "Dark Phoneix" ever drop?

Just a few days after releasing the first trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Fox has opted to push back the release date for the film. Dark Phoenix has faced several setbacks, this being the latest one to worry fans. The film was originally scheduled to touch down this November, but according to Deadlinethe Simon Kinberg helmed film has been pushed back for a second time.

Fans will have to wait until June 7 to see Dark Phoenix at this point. The reason for the setback is unclear. The first time Fox pushed the film back, they brought the cast back for major reshoots to the final act. That is rarely a good sign. Disney's acquisition of Fox may play a role in the pushback, as the studio has Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, and Spider-Man: Far From Home all dropping next year.

Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner first played Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, which was a somewhat underwhelming adaptation of a storyline that should have been as epic as Infinity War. Apocalypse is on Thanos levels of villainy in the comics, and fans felt robbed from what should have been a truly legendary flick. With Dark Phoenix taking the slot that Gambit was supposed to hold, the card-wielding X-Man's film was also pushed back to March 13, 2020.
