It appears The Diplomats are on the wrong side of some backlash at the moment after they might’ve crossed the line with their military look this weekend. The hip-hop group, specifically Jim Jones & Cam’ron, reportedly wore a full military uniform this weekend on stage at their show at the Apollo in New York City, including what appeared to be real ribbons and medals. Well according to PageSix, many veterans took offense to the outfit and were not amused.
“I get performance art, and if you want to wear camo or a [costume] uniform, I have no problem. But if you’re wearing medals and ribbons, it’s crossing a line,” an insider told the media publication.
Neither Cam or Jim JOnes have addressed the reported backlash, nor will they probably, but video of the performance has surfaced online, which you can see Cam’ron and Jim Jones wearing the offending apparel.
The incident is not the first controversy to follow the group on their current tour. Last week, it emerged that Cam’ron called fellow rapper Kanye West an “Uncle Tom” in their new album’s first song "Intro: Stay Down."
