As bad as native New Yorkers want to see it come to fruition, Kevin Durant was in no mood to explore the possibility of joining the Knicks in the offseason, while he was posted in New York. Instead, he went straight to work, making the NY crowd rue what they don't currently have: a veritable shotmaker.
The Knicks and Warriors played to a draw at halftime; the score read 53-53, mostly due to a 17-4 to end the quarter, as Durant's supporting cast went cold, Klay Thompson shooting 4-13 up to that point. By the 3rd quarter, the Knicks would go on to create separation, a ten-point lead that served to light a fire under Durant's skin.
In the 4th quarter, Kevin Durant scored 25 of his 41 points on the night, in front of the sellout crowd at MSG. "You know when you catch every green light when you're trying to get somewhere?" Durant said of his 25 points in the 4th. "That's exactly what it feels like."
Durant has gone on the record to state that he will answer any question about his future with impudence, so as to avoid a situation like the last free agent cycle where his motives were clouded in judgment. Needless to say, Durant and his teammates are trying to enjoy the present moment and not focus too much on the impending free agent period. By the looks of it, the Warriors look even mightier than in years past.
The game ended 128-100 with the Warriors adding to their win streak.
