Lucasfilm is taking a step back from the origin films.

When Solo: A Star Wars Story was a box office disappointment, fans new that future films were going to get the ax. Disney planned to expand their Star Wars universe much like they are with their Marvel films, but the yearly release of films in a galaxy far far away proved to be too much. While Rogue One did amazing in theaters, Star Wars fans have been built to receive trilogies, often spaced decades apart. The sudden influx of new content may have caused an aberration in Star Wars' usually healthy box office run. With that in mind, it appears that Lucasfilm and Disney have moved on from one of their most anticipated spin-offs.

Boba Fett was slated to receive his own film, but that's over with. According to Emmy-award winning journalist Erick Weber, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy claims the spin-off movie is completely dead. "Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead," he tweeted. "100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN." The Mandalorian is an upcoming live-action series that will debut on Disney's streaming service. It will follow a Mandalorian bounty hunter, much like Boba Fett, after the events of Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens. Hopefully, fans will get pieces of a Fett continuation story within the series.
