Enes Kanter
Kanter has been critical of the Turkish government.

Enes Kanter has been quite critical of the Turkish government and the country's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Due to his critical comments, the New York Knicks player recently skipped a trip to London with the team due to a fear of potentially being assassinated. Now it is being reported that Turkey is seeking an international arrest warrant against Kanter, saying he is part of a terrorist organization.

According to ESPN, the government says Kanter has ties to Fethullah Gulen which was the group responsible for an unsuccessful coup back in 2016. Kanter is aware of the report and commented on the situation via Twitter.

Just last week, Kanter did an interview with CBS Sports where he explained what it means to criticize a politician like Erdogan.

"If you speak out against Erdoğan, that means you're a terrorist. If he cannot put you in jail, then he will take your family away and put them in jail and say, 'if you don't stop running against me, then I'm gonna keep your family in jail.' That's what he's trying to do, did that to me, that he tried to put my dad in jail, so he thought that I was gonna stop talking, that made me even talk about this more so the world can see it."

You can watch the clip of that interview below.
