Patrick Mahomes was without question, the best player in the NFL last season. In just his second season in the NFL, the Chiefs QB threw for 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 yards. Mahomes was awarded for his efforts with Most Valuable Player honors and a spot in the Pro Bowl. Unfortunately for Mahomes, his season ended after the AFC Championship game in which the Patriots won in overtime by a score of 37-31. Mahomes led a last-second game-tying drive in regulation, but it simply wasn't enough to give his team the win.
Afterward, Brady spoke with Mahomes personally. In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Mahomes explained what Brady told him.
"He got the security to let him in, and he said, 'Man, you had a heck of a season,'" Mahomes explained. "He knows what it's like to win a lot of big games. He knows what it's like to lose some big games - not many, but a few. So, he just said, 'You have to keep grinding.' He said he loved the way that I played."
Considering Brady has six championships under his belt, Mahomes got some pretty high praise from a man who will likely go down as the best player to ever step foot on a football field.
It will be interesting to see if Mahomes can match his success next season.
