Despite them just premiering the second season of American Vandal, Netflix is bidding adieu to the show that has produced an entire series based on dick and poop jokes. The first edition saw Peter Maldonado and Sam Ecklund taking on an important question: "Who drew the dicks?" The second season was just as immature as a series of pranks involving feces were investigated at a high school. The show followed a documentary format, despite being fiction, and was loved by many. Apparently, that wasn't enough for Netflix to renew it for a third season because we learn today that it's just been axed.
Netflix announced today that American Vandal has been cancelled after its second season, which comes as a surprise to most. The distributor offered a statement on the cancellation of the mock true-crime series, saying, "We’re very grateful to the creators, writers, cast and crew for bringing their innovative comedy to Netflix and to the fans and critics who embraced its unique and unconventional humor." According to Vulture, there's already demand for it to be picked up by another network as CBS All Access may be interested in continuing the show with a third season.
Hopefully, Peter and Sam get to investigate a new mystery. If American Vandal doesn't get picked up by somebody else, we can effectively say goodbye to our favorite dick and poop jokes on TV.
