Keanu Reeves doesn't seem like the superhero type, but Marvel fans are losing their minds right now. In a recent interview with ScreenGeek, Reeves admitted that he would like to play Wolverine. Here's a quick break of the conversation:
"A few years ago you were asked you if you’d do a comic book film. You said you wanted to do Wolverine but you couldn’t take it. You wanted to do Batman, but you couldn’t take it.
Keanu Reeves: No it wasn’t that I couldn’t take it, it was cast.
Yeah, they had everyone they needed for those roles. Now those positions are opening up –
Alice Eve: We have John Wick though! What can he do; he can’t be a cheater! You can’t cheat on John!
Keanu Reeves: Of the two, I’d love to play Wolverine.
When I pressed further on any other comic book role he would like to take on, he said:
Keanu Reeves: I don’t have one, to be candid."
Hugh Jackman left some big shoes to fill when it comes to Wolvie, but even Jackman wasn't very comic book accurate. He was a full foot taller than that minuscule 5'3 Logan, and Jackman was almost a pretty boy compared to the vicious anti-hero. Don't get me wrong, Jackman was legendary in the role and is one of the best actors to become a superhero. Still, it would be nice to see Marvel cast a physically comparable actor to take on the role. Reeves is 6'1, and is in no way built to be Wolvie. Now Tom Hardy, who is much closer in height and build (he's 5'9), would be a good candidate.
