Texans expected to release Thomas as he recovers from Achilles injury.

The Houston Texans will reportedly release veteran wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on Tuesday, according to James Palmer of NFL Network.

Thomas, who the Texans acquired through a trade with the Denver Broncos in October, played in seven games for Houston before tearing his left Achilles in a Week 16 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 31-year old receiver caught 23 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns during his brief stint with the Texans. In his final eight games with the Broncos, Thomas had 36 receptions for 402 yards and three touchdowns.

As Palmer noted, there's still no time table for Thomas' return but, he did bounce back in just six months after suffering a similar injury in his rookie season.

Following Houston's AFC Wild Card Game loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Thomas told reporters he wasn't thinking of retirement, and had hoped to finish his career with the Texans.

"I still can play," Thomas said. "I'm not thinking about retirement. I just don't know where...I told them I'd love to be here. I'd love to finish my career here."
