Though Avengers: Infinity War seemingly claimed the lives of half the Marvel roster, it would appear that death is seldom final in this universe. To be fair, the confirmation of Black Panther 2 and ongoing Spider-Man press run certainly dampen any gravitas Thanos' snap might have had; I suppose it's best we simply pretend the beloved characters may actually be "dead." In any case, rumors have been a-flutter, with one in particular quickly gaining steam.
Actor Anthony Grillo, who previously starred in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, recently revealed that his character "Crossbones" would be returning in a flashback sequence. Speaking with Jim Norton and Matt Serra of the "UFC Unfiltered" podcast, Grillo spilled the beans with a no-fu*ks-given demeanor. "He makes an appearance in the next Avengers movie, but it’s a flashback. I’m allowed to say whatever I want because I’m never doing another Marvel movie.”
Fans have long speculated that flashbacks would be employed in the upcoming Avengers film, especially given the scope of Thanos' villainy. We can only hope that all timey-wimey stuff can be handled with elegance and integrity; in Marvel we trust.
