Common's been pretty absent from hip-hop in 2013, however with 2014 in full swing it looks like we may get new material from the G.O.O.D. rapper.
The actor recently spoke to Revolt TV about his upcoming joint effort with No I.D. called Nobody's Smiling, which was originally going to be an EP but has turned into a proper full-length effort.
As Com explains in the interview, the album's title is a reflection on Chicago's mounting violence, and call to action to incite change.
"2014 is gunna be one of my greatest times in music. I feel excited about the project I'm working on. It's called Nobody's Smiling, and it's an album, originally I was making it an EP but we just been makin' a lot of songs myself and No I.D., and I like the direction," Common revealed before explaining the concept. "We came up with this concept, Nobody's Smiling, it was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago, or that is going on. It happens in Chicago but it's happening around the world."
The actor added, "We was taking about the conditions of what's happening and I said "nobody's smiling," but it's really a call to action."
