Despite losing LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, Tristan Thompson says the Cleveland Cavaliers are still the team to go through in the Eastern Conference.
Speaking with reporters today, Thompson reminded everyone that Cleveland is the four-time Eastern Conference champs while also taking shots at the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors.
“We’re still 4-time Eastern Conference champions, so until you take us down from that, teams ain’t got much to say. Boston, Philly, they ain’t got much to say. Boston had homecourt Game 7 and lost. Philly, you guys almost got swept. Toronto - we know that story.”
In response to Thompson's comments, Boston Celtics' forward Marcus Morris tweeted at the Cavs' center, "Cut it out. Get that vacation ready early this year fam! #facts." Morris wasn't the only one who had something to say about Thompson's remarks either. Sixers' star Ben Simmons also commented on IG, "ha yeh okay buddy see you soon."
Worth noting, Vegas Sportsbooks have pegged the Cavs' over/under win total for the 2018-19 season at just 30.5. Meanwhile, the Celtics have the highest projected win total of any team other than the Warriors at 59.5. The Raptors and Sixers are also in the Top-5 for projected wins with over/under totals of 55 and 54.5, respectively.
