Yesterday, The United States went into a nationwide panic after several bomb threats targeted a variety of different parties, including Michelle & Barak Obama, The Clinton home, and CNN's headquarters. Now, several other prominent Trump critics have been targeted, including acclaimed actor Robert De Niro, and former Vice President Joe Biden. The packages are believed to be "pipe bombs," volatile by their very nature. Though De Niro has chosen not to issue a statement, his rep has spoken on his behalf:
"A suspicious package was received. We called the police. They took it out and went through all safety procedures," the statement reads. "It was addressed to Robert De Niro and is similar packaging to the others. It is an open investigation. Everyone is safe and the building is open."
The FBI have confirmed the identity of the recipients on their official Twitter account. Unfortunately, the manhunt has since yielded no results. On the verge of a bubbling panic, Donald Trump has spread mixed messages. On one hand, he encouraged unity; on the other, he blamed the media for "fanning the flames" to the point of hostility. It's hard to imagine Trump feeling particularly saddened by CNN's involvement in the scheme, given their shared disdain for one another. At this point, the identity of the "bomber" remains unknown. It is, however, abundantly clear that he has been targeting open Democrats, particularly those who have been critical of Donald Trump.
