While the New York Knicks sport the worst record in the NBA at 10-45, there is some hope on the horizon with rumors swirling that Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant might sign with the team in the offseason. Not to mention, they might be able to win the draft lottery which would get them Duke star Zion Williamson. Well, the Knicks sort of jumped the gun on the Kevin Durant front recently when they included him in the promotional imagery for their 2019-2020 season ticket campaign.
In the image, you can see Knicks player Mitchell Robinson standing next to Durant who still has a Warriors jersey. Of course, the timing of it all was pretty bad and according to ESPN, the team removed the image and apologized.
"Game action photos are used all the time for marketing purposes, but given everything going on, we took the precaution of taking the photo down," the Knicks explained in a statement. "To be clear, it was one of several rotating photos on the website."
The Knicks will reportedly have $70 million in cap space at the end of the season and were recently crowned the most valuable team in the NBA, at an evaluation of $4 billion.
