R. Kelly has been silent in the public eye since allegations of sexual misconduct against minors resurfaced in January. The singer was charged last month, although he has since pleaded not guilty to the crimes he's been accused of. However, tomorrow morning, his first interview since being charged will air. CBS shared a small snippet of it earlier today.
R. Kelly sat down with Gayle King in his first interview since being charged with 10 counts of sexual misconduct. The singer denied all of the allegations against him while breaking down into tears. The singer said that his past case is coming back to haunt him.
“Old rumors, new rumors, future rumors. Not true!’ he said. After claiming he beat his case, Gayle tells him he was acquitted. He replied, “You can’t double jeopardy me. That’s not fair. When you beat your case, you beat your case!"
However, Kells reached an emotional peak when he flatly denied all the allegations made against him.
“How stupid would I be to do that?!" He replied when asked if he ever held any woman against his will. "That’s stupid! Use your common sense. Forget how you feel about me. Hate me if you want to, love me if you want. Just use your common sense. How stupid would it be for me, with my crazy past and what I have been through, now I need to be a monster and hold girls against their will and chain them in my basement and don’t let them eat?”
He added, "Stop it, y'all quit playin'! I didn't do this stuff! This is not me! I'm fighting for my fuckin' life!"
Peep the clip below. More of the interview will air on Wednesday on CBS This Morning.
