Last night, "Scarred From Love" rapper Quando Rondo released his awaited From The Neigborhood To The Streets album, which included features from by BlocBoy JB and Shy Glizzy.
Included in the album, is single "Where I'm From", which sees rappers BlocBoy JB and Polo G spitting verses alongside Rondo. The song's beat is simple enough, so as not to overpower the star of the track: the lyrics. All 3 rappers bring their lyrical A-game, reciting perfectly smooth flowing verses heavy with witty word-play.
In keeping with his usual style, Rondo takes a more contemplative, and emotionally nuanced lyrical approach, with a focus on delivering an intelligently thought out, and complex flow. He incorporates lines such as, "hey, I was just stuck in the slums with a drum and Glock-21, I ain't talkin' Savage," to reference pop culture and give a lighter, and more contemporary feel to the song.
The real star here, though, is BlocBoy JB, who goes harrrd with his effortless rap; offering us an abundance of comical lines that cleverly play on words, "aim for the top like a lid (Huh?) Got my whole trap jumpin' like Tig'."
Quando Rondo will be appearing in this year's upcoming Rolling Loud Festival to perform his album. If you liked the song, give the full album a listen here.
Quotable Lyrics
In the ’yo with BlocBoy and I'm with the NBA gang
Spinnin' on they block, boy, with two K's, no NBA game, ayy
I do not fuck with no Nike or Jordan, I go do my shows in a Polo tee
I told ’em Fendi, Louis, and the Gucci, but you know I fuck with lil' Polo G
Down on my dick, I remember them days when the folks didn't even much notice me
I flew to South Memphis to walk through the mall, now them folks like, "Can I take a photo, please?"
