A new report suggests Kelly's time as a morning show television host is coming to an end.

Megyn Kelly has grabbed headlines this week after a panel discussion held on her NBC segment, Megyn Kelly Today, sparked controversy. In the spirit of Halloween, Kelly and her panellists tackled the issue of contentious costumes. On the subject of blackface, Kelly expressed, "What is racist? You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person that puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character.”

After an overwhelmingly negative reception and a flood of backlash from viewers, Kelly issued an on-air apology. “I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry,” she said. “I defended the idea, saying as long as it was respectful and part of the Halloween costume, it seemed OK. Well, I was wrong and I am sorry.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite her apology, Kelly may have sealed her fate at NBC. A well-informed source told the publication that Kelly had been in talks with NBC executives about her future on the network, and a shift in her role. It seems that Kelly who first gained notoriety a "prosecutorial interviewer" on Fox news after going head to head with Donald Trump, would like to move away from the less weighted subject matter of morning news to focus on more hard-hitting political stories.
