We recently learned that Havoc and Prodigy have set aside all their past issues and are reuniting for an eighth studio album and a tour.
The new album and tour coincide with the 20-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed The Infamous album. We previously received a few details about the new album, titled The Infamous Mobb Deep, including that it will be a double-disc set, containing a digitally remastered version of The Infamous and plus another disc of brand new jams.
Havoc has had some help when it comes to producing these new joints, as Boi-1da revealed in a new interview with Vibe that he's got something on the new album. The OVO affiliate shared some insight on his production, saying,
"It’s new-age with that old Mobb twist to it. I was a big fan of Mobb Deep and Havoc’s production, so I just reached out and me and him have been producing records together, sending stuff back and forth. I can say that I have some records on the new Mobb Deep album that me and Havoc did together. It’s something I knocked off my bucket list."
The producer continued to explain how he's looking to make real hip-hop music in 2014. "I’m not with that jiggy stuff. I want people to hear my music and be like, ‘Wow that’s hip-hop, but that’s not like fucking backpack.’ Not crazy down-south trendy music—I’m not about trendy. I’m about making legendary and timeless music."
How do you think Mobb Deep will sound over Boi-1da production?
