The 2013 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards went down recently in Manhattan, New York, and it was a Cash Money affair. Both Birdman and Slim were honored at the event this year, receiving the BMI Icons Award.
Birdman and Slim were honored for the work they've done on Cash Money Records, which the two founded in 1991. As a tribute to them, many of their past and present signees attended the event, including Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, Turk, Curren$y, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Mystikal, Future and Ace Hood (no Drake though), and they joined Baby and Slim on stage as they accepted their award. The Cash Money roster also performed some classics as a tribute to the music moguls, including Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up," among others.
In addition to Birdman and Slim, Nicki Minaj received a joint award with Benny Blanco and Hit-Boy for Songwriter of the Year award.
