PENSOLE x Foot Locker x Asics Gel-Diablo "Once Upon A Time In Kobe"

Release Date: 9/1

Retail Price: $120

Foot locker and Portland-based PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy have teamed up once again for a special Asics Gel-Diablo sneaker release, created by three emerging footwear designed during the “Fueling the Future of Footwear” master class.

During the three-week class, 18 student designers from around the world were split into six teams of three and competed to create the most compelling design. The winners not only received a $12,000 award, but also the grand prize of seeing their creation get a retail release.

Designed by Razma Hassani of Herzogenaurauch, Germany, Matt Franklin of Norwich, New York, and Blake Scordino of Birmingham, Alabama, the Asics Gel-Diablo "Once Upon A Time In Kobe" is inspired by Asics' Japanese heritage, featuring unique design elements including colors and materials that take cues from Koi fish and silk kimonos.

Air Jordan 12 "International Flight"

Release Date: 9/8

Retail Price: $190

Jordan Brand's "International Flight" collection will conclude next Saturday, September 8 with the release of a special edition Air Jordan 12. The kicks, like the "International Flight" Air Jordan 3 and the "International Flight" Air Jordan 5, are inspired by a memorable exhibition game that Michael Jordan played in years ago.

The summer after Jordan’s 72-10 championship season in 1996, Jordan and other NBA stars went to Tokyo, Japan for a basketball clinic. In front of 32,000 fans, players like MJ and Michael Finley showed off by playing 1-on-1, 4-on-4 and even having a little friendly competition with some of Japan’s famous sumo wrestlers.

“We did a little scrimmage against some local guys and a couple of the sumo wrestlers who probably had never touched a basketball in their lives,” recalls Finley, according to AirJordan.com. “He had fun with them and joked around, but at the end of the day he told us, ‘Yo, we’re not losing this game.’ He said, ‘I don’t lose. Whether it’s for charity, scrimmage, or in the season, I don’t lose.’”

The special edition "International Flight" Air Jordan 12s feature a navy suede, complete with an embossed, kimono-inspired print on the upper, as well as a koi fish scale print on the mudguard. Additionally, Japanese characters which translate to "Air Jordan" are stamped on the heel.

The kicks are slated to launch alongside a special edition jersey on Saturday, September 8 for the retail price of $190.

Air Jordan 1 "Pine Green"

Release Date: 9/22

Retail Price: $160

Jordan Brand has rolled out several Air Jordan 1s so far this year, ranging from timeless classics such as the "Shadow" colorway to never before seen releases like the "Homage To Home" rendition and the "Best Hand In The Game" collection. There's still much more in store for the Fall and Winter as well, including even more unreleased colorways.

Among the upcoming Air Jordan 1s is a new "Pine Green" joint which utilizes the familiar color-blocking seen on the "Bred" Air Jordan 1, except that Celtics-inspired color replaces the traditional hits of red on the toe box, heel and outsole.
