WWE's "Road to Wrestlemania" won't officially begin until after the Royal Rumble PPV in January, but the seeds have already been planted for some marquee matches come April. Among those is the champion vs champion bout between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch, which was originally scheduled to take place at Survivor Series last week.
Lynch was pulled from the Survivor Series card after suffering a "broken face" at the hands of Nia Jax during SmackDown Live's staged invasion of Monday Night Raw. As a result, Charlotte Flair faced off against Rousey and the Lynch feud was put on the back burner for the time being. That said, the two champs have continued their war of words on social media, and now UFC star Conor McGregor has gotten into the mix.
McGregor tweeted at his fellow Irish sister, "Call me when you need Proper back up." Lynch responded: "Cheers, Conor. I’m carrying two divisions at the moment, but you know exactly how that is. I hear New York is nice in the spring, though." Of course, Wrestlemania 35 will be held at MetLife Stadium in 2019, which is why Lynch made sure to mention "New York is nice in the spring."
As of now there are no official plans for the two Irish stars to team up at Wrestlemania, but this isn't the first time that McGregor has flirted with the idea of being involved in a WWE story line. At the very least, it wouldn't be surprising if he's ringside or even in Becky's corner for her rumored Wrestlemania showdown against Rousey.
