Demi Lovato has been in rehab working on bettering her health following an almost fatal drug overdose. Love and support for Lovato has poured in from her fans and peers. Most recently, Backstreet Boys band member AJ McLean has come forward to share some words of advice and encouragement.
Like Demi, McLean has struggled with addiction. Back in 2015, McLean told news.com.au, "I dodged a bullet in more ways than one, I dodged a bullet in the drink-driving world, in overdosing, in all kinds of things that could have happened to me." He went on to share, "Numerous times I should have been in deep, deep doo-doo but my guardian angel was definitely with me. I’m now sober, I’m happy, I’ve got a beautiful family, life couldn’t be better. It’s an ongoing struggle but I’m happy today and that’s all I can think about."
TMZ caught up with the musician in West Hollywood where he offered Demi the following advice, "Just surround yourself with good people that aren't going to 'yes' you to death. Go to meetings. Get a sponsor." He also extended a personal invitation to Demi saying, "If you ever want to go to a meeting, if you want to just chat, and talk about recovery [or] just experiences, I'm here."
