Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson and a female companion, identified as Sydney Maggiore, were reportedly arrested early Tuesday morning after they attacked another couple, according to a Loudoun County police report (H/T ESPN).
Nicholson, 23, was charged with assault and battery and being drunk in public. According to the report, he was held on a $2,500 secured bond and Maggiore was charged with malicious wounding and assault and battery.
Deputies reportedly responded to a fight in Ashburn, Virginia, nearby the Redskins' training facility early Tuesday morning and found the two alleged victims still at the scene. Per the report, "an investigation determined the male suspect assaulted the male victim, and the female suspect struck the female victim with a bottle and also assaulted the male victim."
According to one of the victims, the altercation occurred after the "suspects pulled up in a vehicle and honked the horn at them." Nicholson and Maggiore returned to the scene after deputies arrived.
The two alleged victims were treated at a local hospital for injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening.
The Redskins recently received backlash for claiming free agent linebacker Reuben Foster just after he was arrested on domestic violence charges and cut by the San Francisco 49ers. Of the incident involving Nicholson, Redskins senior vice president of communications Tony Wyllie said in a statement: "We are aware of the arrest of Montae Nicholson. We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details."
According to ESPN, Nicholson started the first seven games of the season for Washington but lost his spot when the Skins acquired Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.
